Ealing Council, Hounslow Council, the Mayor of London, the National Trust, the Environment Agency and the Canal & River Trust have come together to deliver a bold vision for the West London Regional Park - a once-in-a-generation opportunity to connect communities, waterways and nature across the capital.

At Prior + Partners, we’ve been privileged to support the evolution of this project since its earliest stages, including through our commission from Ealing Council, where, alongside Gillespies, we explored the potential for a local regional park within the borough. In parallel, working with the National Trust and Hounslow, we have supported the WLRP partnership in developing its overall strategy – providing research, analysis and design expertise to help translate the initial ambition into a tangible and compelling vision.

Our team has contributed to identifying early opportunities that champion healthy, inclusive and equitable public spaces at a strategic scale. We have also supported bringing the partnership’s collective identity to life, producing launch and communications materials, including the animated introductory film in collaboration with The Place Bureau and Miritte Ben Yitzchak.

“West London is full of remarkable contrasts – waterways, green spaces and vibrant communities – yet access to nature remains uneven. The West London Regional Park represents a unique opportunity to open up and connect these spaces over time, creating a living landscape that delivers lasting value for people and nature at city scale.” – Jason Prior, Prior + Partners

Jonathan Rose, Prior + Partners adds: “We see the initiative as a model for how positive change can be achieved at city scale – bringing the right people and institutions together in partnership. Alignment of values and purpose across leading public agencies is essential to securing long-term success for all involved.”

The WLRP partnership has secured support and funding of almost £2.5 million, including £1.5 million from the Mayor of London and a grant of £999,595 from the National Lottery Heritage Fund’s Nature Towns and Cities programme. This investment will help develop the park’s plans, restore habitats for wildlife, improve access to high-quality green spaces and waterways, and unlock new opportunities for sport, play, culture, health and wellbeing.
