Maxime Draaisma

Growing up in London, I have been surrounded by a wide range of architecture, and my passion for sketching led me to draw buildings and street corners that caught my eye. That instinct to observe and make sense of my environment through drawing stuck with me and gradually became a way of understanding how places shape behaviours and feelings.

I first pursued this curiosity through a degree in civil engineering, gaining a strong understanding of structural design and materiality which I still apply to my work today. But over time, I realised that what enticed me most was not only how structures were built, but the experiences that they create. This then led me to urban design, a decision that became one of the most meaningful shifts in my life. My studies in urbanism made me view places and cities as much more complex than what I previously believed. I developed a particular interest in the circular economy and its potential to help regenerate underused urban spaces.

Today, I combine technical understanding, a passion for sketching and a commitment to socially and environmentally responsible design. I am excited to contribute to projects that help cities evolve in ways that are imaginative, inclusive and grounded in valuing people and the planet.
