Tom Venables to keynote at ULI UK Cities Summit 2026
This Thursday, Prior + Partners Director Tom Venables FRTPI will deliver a keynote at the ULI UK Cities Summit in Birmingham focused on Taking it regional: strategic planning at new geographies.
Hosted at Mott MacDonald’s Birmingham office, this year’s half-day summit, Devolution Ahead – Strategic Planning, Place Leadership and the Opportunities of a Changing UK, brings together public and private sector leaders to explore what devolution means in practice for UK cities and regions. The focus is on how new geographies of planning, stronger partnerships, infrastructure investment and innovative funding models can turn devolved powers into tangible outcomes for places and communities.
Tom’s keynote, Taking it regional: Strategic planning at new geographies, will draw on Prior + Partners’ work with the Strategic Planning Group and our wider experience of shaping places at a city and regional scale. Discussing what good growth looks like from public and private sector perspectives.
Tom is a town planner with over 20 years’ experience delivering strategic planning, regeneration and growth programmes across the UK and internationally. His work includes major growth and infrastructure-led programmes in Enfield and Ebbsfleet, and most recently the Southampton Renaissance, an investment and spatial strategy for Southampton City Council. He is a former Chair of RTPI London and Board Trustee, and became a Fellow of the Institute in 2025.
