My route into the Built Environment started with Architecture, where I first learned to think spatially and understand cities as lived systems rather than abstract designs. During my studies at the Bartlett School of Architecture, I became increasingly interested in the forces which shape a place beyond its form, from demographics, to economics, to the environment or politics. This curiosity led me to pursue a Master’s degree in Social and Geographic Data Science at UCL, allowing me to approach problem solving with rigour, evidence and a sharp analytical skillset.
What I enjoy most about my work is revealing patterns in data which have utility in the real world. I would describe my approach as evidence-informed, rather than just data driven; as quantitative analysis provides structure and clarity, but qualitative understanding affords key context, and their union should develop a ‘systems-theory’ style methodology. This is because whether engaging with GIS, spatial statistics, remote sensing, or machine learning, I know my analysis has ramifications for people, not just data.
At Prior + Partners, I am excited to apply this approach within a multidisciplinary environment, contributing geospatial insight in an engaging way for designers, planners, and clients, to support and strengthen thoughtful design, masterplanning and strategy.
