Prior + Partners has been appointed by Oxfordshire County Council and Cherwell District Council to lead this Masterplan Framework, which builds on the strategic foundations laid by the earlier Banbury Vision 2050 project.
Banbury, a historic market town, sits at an important point in its development, with opportunities opening up across its town centre, transport network and key development sites. Our role is to help the town capitalise on these, bringing together evidence, expert analysis and local insight to set a clear direction for its future.
Engagement is central to the process. Alongside the two councils, we are hosting events with local stakeholders including businesses, employers, transport providers and residents from Banbury and its surrounding villages to ensure the masterplan reflects what matters most to the people who live, work and invest there.
The framework masterplan will inform future investment planning and could underpin a dedicated Banbury investment prospectus, raising the town’s profile with prospective partners and investors. The commission is expected to conclude in early 2027.
We are delivering this work with a multidisciplinary team comprising Newsteer as property, regeneration and delivery advisors, Alan Baxter Associates as experts in transport, infrastructure and heritage, XCO2 as specialists in sustainability and energy planning, and dRMM as award-winning architects specialising in socially conscious town centre and housing-led regeneration.
