Prior + Partners are delighted to welcome Shaun Andrews as Director of UK Planning Strategy.

The further expansion of our planning team, now 18 strong, follows recent commissions which blend the practice’s core disciplines, including the appointment to lead the transformation of Bristol Temple Quarter.

A Chartered Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute, Shaun joins Prior + Partners from Nexus Planning where he was Executive Director and Board Member for the practice. Prior to this, he held senior and board level positions at several leading consultants in London, including GL Hearn and Cushman and Wakefield.

Whilst spending most of his career in the private sector, Shaun has also enjoyed roles at the Defence Infrastructure Organisation, a development corporation and at various Local Authorities. His specialisms include complex residential and mixed use projects, ranging from tall buildings to garden communities, and town and city centre transformation, with Shaun a Planning Expert to the Government’s High Streets Task Force. He is also a leading figure and advocate for creating healthy places, co-authoring ‘The Healthy City’ on behalf of Key Cities and has sat on various Health & Wellbeing expert panels.

In his new role, Shaun will help drive Prior + Partner’s UK presence, with the practice currently advising on complex projects across all scales, from strategic regional planning, complex mixed-use urban quarters, education and innovation campuses, urban extensions, and new communities. Current schemes include Oxpens in Oxford, West of Ifield in Horsham, Salt Cross Garden Village in Oxfordshire, and Canning Quaysides and Dry Docks in Liverpool.

Shaun Andrews, Director of UK Planning Strategy at Prior + Partners – “With real strength in both planning and masterplanning, and complimentary in-house skills including data science and engagement, Prior + Partners embodies the vision, ambition, culture and capability needed to meet the challenges and opportunities presented now, right across our built environment.  Over the last six years, the practice has demonstrated how planning consultancy can evolve to move beyond solely reacting to client needs, to thinking creatively and positively generating opportunity and solutions. I am therefore delighted to have joined now to better support clients through expanding the practice’s capability and network.”

Jason Prior, Chief Executive at Prior + Partners – ‘ The Practice was founded with the purpose of bringing together the skills needed to execute successful urban plans, masterplans and development strategies. The growth of our team is testament to the success of this approach, and we’re pleased to welcome Shaun as he looks to expand our work with public and private sector clients on complex sites across the country.’’

Tom Venables, Planning and Board Director at Prior + Partners – ‘’ The numerous challenges facing the UK planning and regeneration sector requires new approaches and innovation. With planning reforms, an upcoming election, housing shortages, public health challenges, economic uncertainty, and the real impacts of a changing climate the need for good planning has never been greater.

This means growing demand for planning and regeneration-led consultancy services across the country, and the welcoming of Shaun bolsters our team’s ability to step up to these challenges and offer our clients bold and creative solutions.’’
