Birmingham Sports Quarter is a 60 acre, sport led regeneration initiative in East Birmingham that aims to create a vibrant mixed use destination anchored by a new football stadium, training facilities, and community focused spaces.
Over the past two years, Prior + Partners has been working as masterplanners to support the delivery of this transformational project, helping shape an integrated vision that combines sport, homes, commercial uses and public realm to benefit local communities and unlock long‑term economic and social value.
At this year’s Beyond the Sport conference, Joon Chung, Masterplanning Associate Director at Prior + Partners and Project Manager for Birmingham Sports Quarter, will join a panel discussion about how sport can catalyse urban renewal. Drawing on his experience on the Sports Quarter, Joon will explore practical insights from the project – including the opportunities and challenges in embedding social value and inclusive outcomes in large‑scale regeneration.
The Beyond the Sport conference brings together sports leaders, urban planners, investors, policymakers and community organisations to shape the future of the West Midlands. It takes place on 5 February 2026, from 09:00 to 18:30, at Edgbaston Stadium, Birmingham.
