Google Moffett Park
Prior + Partners is working with Google to develop a vision and development framework for Moffett Park in Sunnyvale, California. The proposal involves the transformation of a 6.9 km2 (1,705 acres) suburban car-centric office park into an integrated, resilient, mixed-use campus in collaboration with locally-based technical consultants.
Boasting far-reaching views across the bay on its northern edge, and hemmed by a large highway to the south, the site’s largest growth constraint is its existing gateway capacity. This has necessitated a close examination of the transportation and other infrastructure systems needed to support a proposed population increase.
In order to deliver a 21st century innovation district that embodies the client’s aspirations and culture, masterplanning efforts have focused on phased implementation measures and strategies for a range of systems, including public realm, open space, transportation, infrastructure, and logistics, that will support the integration of an additional 7.1M sf of office development, and the introduction of 10,000 residential units across the site.
The masterplan document is intended to serve as both a critical reference document that will inform an update to the local authority plan, as well as a blueprint for development for the client.
