
Juan is an Associate Director at Prior + Partners and a member of the ARB. Juan brings extensive experience in the design and delivery of high-profile buildings and design strategic thinking. His experience in concept ideation, design thinking, representational and narrative strategies in complex design processes aims to contribute to the design excellence of the practice.
Previous to joining Prior + Partners Juan has accumulated more than 13 years experience working in the field of architecture and design. Juan has worked in Spain, Japan and the UK and his international experience includes projects in the UK, EU, Asia and North America.
Charleston East Google, Mountain View, California, USA
Juan was a senior architect and part of the leadership group from Concept Design to Detail design. He was co-responsible for design and development of the infrastructure and look&feel of the architecture inside the dome that contains the workspace (also called human scale). Google commissioned Heatherwick Studio and BIG to create a brand-new workplace typology incorporating the highest design standards and sustainability principles. The project currently under construction aims to give a genuine responds to Google needs and aspirations for an exceptional workplace.
Google Kings Cross, London
Juan was a senior architect and part of the Concept Design team that set the principles of the so called “landscrapper” Google London Headquarters. Juan contributed to translate and adapt the design principles established for a suburban workspace in California to the dense urban condition of the site in Central London. Google commissioned Heatherwick Studio and BIG to lead the design on the new headquarters in London Kings Cross located in one on the biggest parcels of the new district.
Toronto Waterfront, Toronto, Canada
Juan worked as a senior architect providing design thinking in regards to the different sites, parcels and existing industrial buildings as potential site for the development of an exceptional new district. Side Walk Lab (SWL) commissioned Heatherwick Studio to contribute to the vision of the masterplan for Toronto Waterfront due to the particular experienced developed by Heatherwick in the design of the first Google buildings in London and Mountain View.
Bruneseau Masterplan, Paris, France
Juan has been deputy project lead and senior architect in charge of the competition design, project coordination and presentation to the City of Paris. The project was shortlisted for the final stage of the international competition for the design and development of a new district located between Paris and Ivry. The brief required a vision of the masterplan and the design of buildings developed to a schematic level for a mixed-use district. The programme consisted of 100,000 sqm of new built accommodation, workspace and amenities that reflect the transition of Paris periphery to a fully sustainable and vibrant place to live in.
Canada Water Vision, London
Juan was a Deputy Project leader and Senior Architect during different feasibility studies for a mixed-use development in a central parcel located within the new masterplan for Canada Water. The vision focused on the opportunities of a central landmark facing the current Canada Water station to create a vibrant working-living hub and a destination for the public that can attract new businesses to the area. British Land commisioned Heatherwcik Studio to explore the opportunities for a central parcel within Canada Water Masterplan led by Allies&Morrison.
Jomon Museum, Miyahata, Japan
Juan was an architect responsible for the development of the detailed design of the building. Juan developed a 2D/3D workflow that allow the contractor to see the documentation from a technical and architect perspective at once. Furuichi&Associates was commissioned by the Miyahata Council in Fukushima to design and build a Museum for their local collection of Japanese pre-historic items.
